Jonas and Casey return to the House after a two week supply run, ending in an encounter with the royal family.
The arrival of a warrior named Rufio from a musical dimension shakes up the entire House, especially Ariadne. While
everyone is busy getting to know him, Krysta decides to go off on a scouting mission without permission. Rashia follows
after her and witnesses an Ebene struggle which ends with Krysta being captured. Rashia returns to the House and a meeting
is called in which Krysta's capture is announced and Casey informs the House of a new lash that the Ebene can use to turn
a person into stone.
In the middle of the meeting, Milady shows up to torment the Fighters, claiming that she's killed Krysta. A fight
breaks out when Rashia attacks Milady, against Aden's orders. In the middle of the melee, Casey is struck with Milady's
lash and turns to stone. Aden charges Shawn with the responsibility of interpreting Casey's notes on the lash and then
confines Rashia to her quarters with Amorette and Pfalz standing guard. Telian is sent searching for Krysta's remains
and returns only with her swords and cloak.
Rashia confesses to the Phoenix Fighters that she too is Ebene, and in fact the love child of Lord Zelazny. Philip,
jealous of Ariadne's friendship with Rufio, gets into a screaming match with Airy, ending it by leaving his key to her room
behind. The entire House puts in their own two cents about the break up, but Philip and Ariadne remain in their respective
rooms.
Rufio discovers Pfalz is Ebene, and shows his complete distaste for her. To make him feel better, Pfalz tricks him into
letting him stab her, while she really just phases her insides while letting her skin get stabbed. Nevertheless, Rufio turns
his own hand into vibrating sound particles and gives her a would-be deadly stab. Instead of killing her, though, it makes
her less-than-pleasant childhood memories echo in her self, trasmitting them to Rufio, and making him soon rush out bitterly.
Telian, Amorette, and Valero go off on a mission to rescue Krysta. A foundling named Aeq, brought in by Sic, is initiated
into the Phoenix Fighters. Shawn and Jake manage to use a sample of Rashia's Ebene blood to reverse the affects of the
lash. Casey is restored to normal and begins work on an antibody for the other Fighters.
The rescue mission to save Krysta turns out to be a dismal failure, with Amorette getting caught. In addition,
Ariadne disappears. Valero takes Pfalz, Rufio, and Lucien off to find Amorette and Krysta. Meanwhile, Philip sets
off to find Ariadne. Along the way, he encounters a strange girl named Kit who claims to know of her location.
The condition of the House begins to deteriorate. Ana and Sito's affair comes to an abrupt end, Tranns finds a stash
of Flash in her bedroom, Sic loses her sight completely, and Jonas and Shawn begin to compete for Casey's affections.
